Recently I was talking with a marketing “expert” who helps entrepreneurs with their small businesses’ success. One of the things he mentioned was making sure I could be found easily on Google. I tweaked some things tonight to make sure Google shows “Beth Jones, International Speaker and Author” as a business.
Unfortunately, there are MANY “Beth Jones” who speak and write books, including one well-known pastor. She’s at the very top of Google’s ranking. But I am me, and she is her. We may share the same name, but God made us different. I just need to focus on my relationship with Jesus and fulfilling the purpose God has for my life! It is the same with you–God made you uniquely, wonderfully, and beautifully! We don’t have to compare ourselves with others, or compete!
Tonight I worked on a new logo on Canva, a great place to design Facebook posts, Instagram posts, flyers, posters, and more. I will miss my sunflower logo/website icon that I had (I love sunflowers!), but it is time for a change.
I did get the advice of a graphic art design student for this new logo, whose opinion I value due to her artistic eye. Initially I just had my initials “bj” as the logo, but she suggested that I include my entire name with the logo to more accurately and easily reflect my brand.
She said a brand is not just what someone or a company does, but who they are. This is making me think more deeply about my brand. Nike has a great brand and slogan: “Just do it!” I love their check mark logo, and the clothing and the shoes with it. McDonald’s also has a world-wide recognizable brand and logo: The big yellow “M” and their cheeseburgers and fries. My husband Ray does NOT love them so much!
What about YOUR business brand? Do you know what it is, what you do, and who you really are? How can you and I stand out among all the noise online?
Here is my new logo (I think!). I wanted to match the color of the logo background with the text here on my website. What do you think? Please leave your comments below.
